Great Day at the Northumberland County Show

With agriculture firmly at the heart of the Northumberland County Show we are proud to showcase some of the finest livestock in the country with sections for cattle, sheep, horses, alpacas and goats as well as the ever popular rabbits and cavies and a marquee packed with pigs. The competitive day culminates in the Grand Parade of livestock in the main area where the coveted Champion of Champions title is awarded. The competitions aren’t all about livestock – we have our own ‘bake off’ classes in the Competitive Home Crafts marquee, Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, one of the biggest stick dressing competitions in the country and lots of huffing and puffing in the tug of war.

SPONSORED BY OUR PRINCIPAL PARTNER LINTZ HALL FARM EGGS

After much thought and consideration, and following lengthy consultation with our veterinary advisors and guidance from the ASAO (Association of Shows and Agricultural Organisations), the Management Committee have taken the decision to cancel this year’s Poultry Section.

We are very disappointed and saddened to not welcome the usual magnificent display of soft and hard feathered chickens and waterfowl, however we hope you will enjoy the Egg Show that will still be taking place.

The organisers have expanded this popular section and look forward to a great display of white, brown, Bantam and Waterfowl eggs, plus several decorated and painted egg classes.

We hope that by 2018 we will once again be able to showcase some of the region’s finest poultry once again, and the public will understand how important animal safety is to the show.

If you would like to discuss this matter with us further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Once again may we thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
