Northumbrian Pipers Competition

Northumbrian Pipers Competition

The Northumberland smallpipes are a traditional and beautiful instrument that have been played for over 250 years.

This brand new competition for the show holds particular significance as it is held in loving memory of the esteemed Northumbrian piper, Dave Shaw, from Craghead, who sadly passed away last year. Dave’s family have kindly donated a trophy in his memory to the Best Young Piper.

The Pipers competition will be kindly organised with the generous support of Andrew Davison and his team of helpers. We have 5 classes – Beginners, Intermediate, Open, Duet & Best Young Piper.

Judge: Kathryn Tickell

The Competition is kindly sponsored by Hay & Kilner

During the day we hope to be holding some performance sessions in the marquee. The marquee will be open to the general public to come in and enjoy the music. Plenty of seating will be provided within a friendly and entertaining environment.

If you would be interested in taking part in the competition, rules, classes and entry details are below.
